About FaceGlade
FaceGlade is a one-person project by Ava Lin: a set of free tools that read your face (shape, proportions, seasonal colors) entirely inside your browser. No upload, no account, no server-side AI.
Why this site exists
Every "what is my face shape" tool I tried wanted the same thing: my photo, uploaded to their server. Sometimes the privacy policy admitted the photos were kept. Sometimes there was no privacy policy at all. I kept thinking the analysis was simple enough to run on the phone in my hand (the geometry part, at least), so I built the version I wanted to exist.
The site runs on MediaPipe's 478-point facial landmark model, executed on your own device in about 60–130 ms. Your photo is decoded into your browser's memory, measured, and never sent anywhere. A strict Content-Security-Policy (default-src 'self') makes sure no script on the page even has the option to phone home with it. You can verify this yourself: open the Network tab, run a detection, watch nothing leave.
The honest-failure part
I did try to build an age estimator first. I trained a small model, ran it against labeled test photos, and the error was bad enough that shipping a number would have been a lie. So the age page publishes what we measured (the mean error, where the model fails, why "how old do I look" is a harder problem than it looks) instead of a confident fake guess. That decision is the whole philosophy of the site in one page: a number you can audit beats a number you can't.
How FaceGlade stays free
Running cost is close to zero because nothing runs on a server: the model, the measuring and the rendering all happen on your device, and the site itself is a stack of static files on Cloudflare's free tier. The plan is to keep the tools free and cover costs with unobtrusive advertising and, later, affiliate links to color products when they fit the content. There is nothing to buy today, and no result on this site sits behind a paywall.
Who's behind it
FaceGlade is designed, built and maintained by Ava Lin: front end, copy, tests and all. Ava Lin also writes at javaeye.dev, a build log covering the whole small-tools fleet this site belongs to: what shipped, what broke, and what the traffic numbers say.
Talk to me
Bug reports, wrong measurements, palette disagreements: all welcome. Email support@faceglade.com. If a detection result looks off, attach the photo if you're comfortable: because nothing uploads by design, a report with the actual image is the only way I can reproduce what you saw.
